As with my other graphite piece, this is untitled and is created with graphite on 14 in. x 17 in. drawing paper. I also used a picture to draw from. In this piece, I took more artistic liberty you could say. Instead of focusing on reproducing the image in the picture, I decided to focus more on the shading and the contrast, as well as the highlights and low-lights. The picture I worked from I chose because the contrast struck me in an interesting way. It caught my attention and it reminded me of the other drawing I did.
This is a drawing of my eyes, just like my other drawing is of my torso. However, this piece does not have as a personal meaning to me as the other one does.
I am very happy with how this piece turned out. I used the same process I used for my torso piece, but I learned how to use shading instead of lines to create perspective and different elements of the face.
Note as of February 13th, 2014: I submitted this piece to Scholastic Art and Writing Competition for the 2014 session. Sadly, it didn't win any awards, but it was still an amazing experience. Scholastics is an amazing program and I love submitting to their competition. You should try submitting sometime! Go for it!
