Considered a pioneer of Photorealism, Audrey Flack's work is stunning and recycles the viewer's eye. I especially love her "vanitas" works. Personally, Audrey is one of my favorite artists. Her paintings are stunning as well as her sculptures. All of her pieces have a hidden story, a Pandora's Box feel about them. Every element of every piece is beautiful and without any of the incorporated elements, the pieces would not be complete.
Many of Flack's pieces have all of one of the following elements (her vanitas pieces that is): a clock, flowers, beads/jewelry, photos, candles, and fruit. They demonstrate that time is short and everything dies. They also seem to add to the idea that we need to make the most of the time we are allotted.
I believe that Audrey is an amazing artist, skill-wise, but also when it comes to telling a story. I hope to one day see her works in person!
