We come and go
Apparitions formed of
death defying promises
and transparently caked scars
from the constant race and rush of moving up the
tenuous mountain side.
Hands are bruised with forgetful lies
and arms bleeding crow black words and
poetry.
Our legs ache from traversing
the stereotypes and lies
spread throughout the hallways of adolescent prejudice.
For years we have climbed
scaled the walls everyone claimed we would fall from
and climbed the trees they all said would fall on our weary bones.
Years spent compromising and
with the lack of communication
trying not to let the paper dam split apart and
shatter into thousands of burned out cries.
Soil rains form the sky
as empty acidic rain leaks from the fading ground.
Our worlds have been turned into the tumbling
turbulent
ocean.
The sky bleeds and falls into the oceanic
undulating
grassy fields and the trees
once rooted onto the bed rock of our Earth
fly away and connect with stars
roots growing and twisting
bending and kissing
the liquid silver stars of light years past.
The moon falls and descends into
the outer crust of the crumbing sphere
and the sun rains its golden visage
as it pools its heat in the magma flowing from the heart of the world.
You float up
and up
and up
and up
flying high
losing sight
of everything that was and everything that is
and what is yet to come
as I stand rooted with the moonlight sun.
Will the star laden branches catch you
before you spin away into the liquified darkness?
Or will you tumble away
hair lost in the invisible space wind
as your aches are lost to the black holes that remain on the out lies
of the speckled universe?
As Autumn has faded into the cold and jaded
empty
forgone
winter
trees fell from their leaves
as they danced to the musty dirt
and foot prints encased in time's scars
tiptoed over ancient lives
and snow fell from the graying skies.
You tumbled into a life filled with
knives and
trusting of no one
as we drifted away
and fell into other paths
that have yet to cross.
You claim that I'm the moon
and I shine just for you.
Now I don't know what you are
because so far
all you've been is a storm cloud
of raging lightning
and pounding
ear shattering thunder
trying to block and tear away
all that remains
of this once great adventure.
